Twiggy, the iconic British model who revolutionized beauty standards in the 1960s with her very slim silhouette and androgynous look, is celebrating 60 years of career and, in a recent interview, shared what she does to stay so youthful at 76.
The model, actress and singer, whose real name is Lesley Lawson, was named “The Face of 1966” by the newspaper Daily Express at the age of 16 and, even though she only worked in the profession for 4 years, she is still globally recognized as one of the first supermodels.
In a recent interview with Defined Magazine, Twiggy spoke about the importance of staying active and revealed how she approaches beauty and aging.

“I’m not fanatical, but I’ve always done some kind of exercise. For the past 20 years, it’s been Pilates — I’m a big fan. I eat well. I believe we are what we eat,” she said.
“Lots of vegetables, salmon, organic whenever possible. And dark chocolate — I was very happy to read that it’s good for your health!” she added.
Without thinking about retiring, Twiggy believes that the most important thing at this stage of life is to keep the mind active and always look for new challenges.
“I don’t think retiring completely is a good idea. If you stop one job, start another interest. I’m lucky because I love what I do — modeling, designing, acting, singing.”
Looking back on the beginning of her career, Twiggy said she never really stopped to think about why she became a fashion icon: “You know, I never tried to analyze what happened to me. If you start analyzing yourself, you’re in terrible trouble.”
“It’s much better to be friendly to people because they return kindness. I can be strong. And I can be firm if needed, of course, but I don’t want to live life angry and complaining. Life is too short,” she concluded.
